Among the higher education leadership courses Dr. Jacob teaches is Higher Education Human Resource Management. This course provides a basic understanding of human resource management (HRM) operations within the setting of higher education institutions (HEIs). It helps class members identify and assess contemporary challenges in HRM on local, national, and international levels. In addition, the course introduces the organizational aspects of HRM from strategic operational perspectives.
This course focuses on the development of human resource policies and systems that facilitate the conduct of activities in colleges and universities through the effective and efficient utilization of administrators, faculty, and staff. The topics that are discussed include, but are not limited to, human resource planning, recruitment and selection procedures, evaluation procedures, development, training, and salary and fringe benefits administration. Various human resource policies and practices are explored as to their effects on institutional operations and on the establishment of a quality work environment.
